The Batman is a 2022 American neo-noir superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The film is co-produced by DC Pictures, 6th & Idaho and Dylan Clark Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. It is the first live-action Batman independent film after the Dark Knight trilogy. The film was directed by Matt Reeves, who co-wrote with Peter Craig. Rob Pattinson stars as "Batman" Bruce Wayne, Jeffrey Wright, Zooey Kravitz, Paul Dino, Andy Serkis, John Turturro, Peter Sezca, Andy Serkes and Colin Farrow star in the show. Set in different worlds from the DC Extended Universe films, Batman tells the story of Bruce Wayne who discovers corruption in Gotham City and fights crime in his second year as Batman.

Gotham City philanthropist, billionaire, and current heir to Wayne Enterprises. To protect Gotham City from outlaws, Wayne disguises himself as the masked vigilante Batman to fight crime. Wayne in the film is about 30 years old, in his second year as Batman, before he has grown into a seasoned superhero. Pattinson said that Batman has more shortcomings than traditional superheroes. As an insomniac, it is difficult to distinguish Batman's personality from Bruce Wayne's public identity, and it is often difficult to control himself.
